At West Coast RIB Adventures, we believe the thrill of the Shannon Estuary should be open to as many people as possible. We strive to deliver marine-wildlife tours that are inclusive, safe, and enjoyable — while recognising that waters, tides, and vessel design bring some natural constraints. We’ve also worked closely with Kilrush Marina to make our departure point as accessible as possible, providing clear routes, assistance, and amenities to support every guest from arrival to boarding.

What We Offer

  • Trained Crew & Personal Assistance – Our small group sizes allow crew to provide hands-on help where needed, from pre-boarding support to on-onboard guidance.

  • Pre-boarding Assistance – We’ll help you step aboard safely, secure your seating, and explain safety procedures clearly.

  • Service Animals Welcome – Service animals can’t be accommodated on our RIB tours due to vessel size, but our sister company Scattery Island Tours can.

  • Sensory-Friendly Options – If you prefer a calmer ride with fewer sharp turns or quieter operation, we can tailor the experience where conditions allow.

  • Clear Communication – Our team always explains safety steps, wildlife protocols, and boarding in plain, inclusive language.

What to Plan Ahead

Mobility & Vessel Access

Boarding involves stepping from the pontoon into the vessel. Guests who use wheelchairs or mobility aids should contactus in advance so we can assess the best option for their comfort and safety.

Weather & Sea Conditions

Tides and wind can influence boarding and vessel stability. On days of stronger conditions, routes or times may be adjusted for safety.

Seating & Support

Passengers with limited balance or mobility are advised to travel with a companion who can assist where needed.

facility designed for easy boarding and guest comfort.

Convenient Parking

On-site parking is available beside the marina, including designated wheelchair spaces near the main entrance.

Step-Free Access

Gentle ramps and level pathways connect the car park, marina office, and pontoon area, allowing wheelchair and mobility access.

Accessible Facilities

Toilets, including an accessible restroom, are located within the marina complex.

Sheltered Waiting Area

A covered space near the marina office offers protection from wind and weather while you wait.

Staff Assistance

Our crew will meet you on arrival, provide a safety briefing, and assist with boarding as needed.

Nearby Amenities

Kilrush town centre is a short walk away, with cafés,restaurants, and shops for pre- or post-tour refreshments.

Smooth Start to Your Adventure

Boarding takes place directly from the marina pontoon into the sheltered inner basin before passing through the lock gates to the Shannon Estuary — the start of your journey into dolphin territory.
